Ghana’s Hidden Water Crisis: The Daily Struggle for Clean Water in Rural Communities

  • Ghana Water Crisis; Over 844 million people worldwide still lack access to safe drinking water. In Ghana, this crisis is painfully real — especially in rural areas. Families in these regions rely on water that is far from clean or safe.
  • A 2018 report showed that 1 in 9 Ghanaians must walk over 30 minutes each day just to find water. In places like Chanshegu, Jonshegu, Zujung, Kukuo, and Dohini, this struggle is even worse.
  • Here, water comes from a decades-old dam that is almost dry. Sadly, this dam is used not only by people but also by animals. Livestock often drink, urinate, and defecate in the same water. This makes it unsafe and dangerous for human use.
  • Diva Farms in partnership with Updates Group of Companies did a feasibility studies in over 30 communities under the Tamale North Constituency. Children miss school. Mothers carry heavy buckets for miles. Illnesses spread quietly in these communities — all because of water that should be clean, safe, and nearby.
  • At Diva Farms, we believe clean water is not a privilege. It is a human right. That’s why we launched the Borehole for Life project — a mission to drill boreholes and bring clean water closer to rural villages. But we can not do it alone
  • 💧 Call to Action: Help Us Bring Water to Life
  • No one should share drinking water with animals. No one should walk miles for a muddy cup. Yet this is the daily reality for thousands in Ghana.
  • 🌍 Will you help us change that?
  • Every cedi, every dollar brings us closer to drilling a well. Your support will help children go to school instead of the stream. It will save lives, restore dignity, and spark hope.
